In today’s tutorial, I want to share with you one core tool that my team and I use in the business to ensure all our log in information are stored and shared securely. The best online and FREE tool is called LastPass which is similar to RoboForm or 1Password but the only difference and beautiful thing about it is that you don’t have to install anything per computer to fill in any websites to log in and access. Once you setup an account and installed its plugin on your browser you’re all set in place. So literally it’s easy to have it on any computer and share information through its own secure online server with your virtual team anytime.

Hi everyone, it’s Tyrone from Outsourcinglive.com and welcome to the dedicated channel where I share with you outsourcing and show you how to build a virtual team to run your business.
In today’s video, I want to share with you a really neat tool, a password saving tool which will save you so much time having to type in those passwords and logins. If you’re like me, I have hundreds and hundreds of usernames and passwords and stuff like that for so many sites and I can tell you I can never remember every single one of them. I usually call my – or contact my VA to get details but with this piece of software, I don’t even need to worry about that because it stores it all for you encrypted safely all online.
All right, this piece of software is called LastPass and it’s from LastPass.com. If you want to go and check it out, it’s free to download. It’s an easy to use software and if you’ve tried other pieces like Roboform for PC or 1Password for Mac, they’re great software too but the only difference is that with those ones, you have to have it installed on your computer and obviously to use it around everywhere else, you have to install it on other computers as well.
With LastPass it’s an online tool which all you have to do is make sure that the computer that you’re on has just the plugin that’s installed so it’s available for all these types of browsers. Like if you’re on Internet Explorer – sorry not Internet Explorer, if you’re on – Windows for example, I’ve forgotten Windows. Sorry to everyone who’s using Windows because I’ve been using Mac for so long kind of forgotten it.
You can use it on Internet Explorer, you’ve also got Firefox, you’ve got Safari, Chrome and Opera. So you can use it all across those different platforms as well or those browsers and it’s really, really good for that because the fact is that if you’re on another computer you can easily set this up on any browser and then just obviously not have to worry about it.
But anyway, the main reason why I’m recommending this to you is because if you’ve got a virtual team like I do, I’ve got teams – team of people inside my business that need access to passwords and usernames and stuff and to access them securely then you definitely will want to use this. And I’ll show you right now how to be able to share this amongst your team.
What I’ve done is that every single person that comes into my business as a virtual assistant or web developer, or whoever, I request that they install LastPass because they can use it and that way they don’t have to ask me all the time for passwords and stuff like that because all the passwords are all stored online and they use the same ones as well. And don’t worry, you know if you worry about security this is a very safe piece of tool that is very secure.
Now to set it up to be able to use and share amongst your team, all you have to do is make sure that you have one centralized account. Let me just describe it to you actually, it might be the easiest thing.
So let’s just say for example this is LastPass and this is your account you setup with LastPass. So I’m going to say I setup an account called Outsourcing Live – yeah account, whatever it’s called and that centralized account will provide access to everyone. Say for example the VA access it, me I access it, my web developer access it and whoelse , who – everyone else is on the team, etc.
Now to be able to have those accounts accessed you just setup separate identities as we call them or as they call them and these separate identities allow for each individual person to be able to access their sets of passwords, usernames and stuff like that. So my VA would probably have one identity and it might be VA’s identity and she accesses all her passwords there. I have my own identity which I setup for me which are only my passwords and same thing with my web developer so that way you don’t have it overlap of the people inside the team using those passwords.
If say for example this web developer needs to get access to her password, all he has to do is access the centralized account and from that centralized account, he can access those passwords as well.
I have basically an open team policy if you want to put it that way and the reason why I’m suggesting you this as well is it just makes data flow very easy to get around rather than have like a bottleneck stopping everyone to get access to data. Now, a lot of people have come to me and said hey Tyrone, what about security? What will you do if there’s a breach of security from that person or there’s a breach of security from that person. Well, trust is firstly the issue that you’re going to build up first and I trust them throughout the start.
But if they’re as that, all you have to do is just really turn off that identity, delete their account – or delete their identity and they won’t be able to access that. And all you have to do is just simply just change the central password. That’s it and that’s not hard at all to do.
So yeah – I kind of have answered that question and hopefully you can see exactly how that’s done. But, the main thing is install it, try it out, I’ll show you an example of it right now actually and as you can see I’ve got my LastPass Vault here and all the details. Let’s say I want to log in to my WordPress account.
Let’s go the back of the WordPress account, the standard one is that. And – oh it’s automatically filled it in which is great because what LastPass does it is it fills in your password – oh sorry username and password and obviously once it fills it in all you have to do is just simply click Log In and you’re up and running.
And that’s what LastPass does for you. Beautiful – you know so easy to use, and it’s so, so quick.
All right now check it out it’s at LastPass.com. Excellent piece of software as I’ve mentioned, I can’t hardly recommend it for anyone else. If you are also interested in getting the Premium there’s extra features in there. You’re most welcome to check it out. I don’t use the Premium, I use the free one but the Premium has some extra features it’s only like a dollar for the whole month which is like 12bucks for the whole year. So if you want to get that extra, go for it and I highly recommend it.
